Management

Jill

Founder

Jill is the “original tutor” and lead consultant. She has several degrees, and has been tutoring, training, leading, and teaching for over 35 years. The past 13 years have been dedicated to full-time tutoring. She has a passion for teaching and has helped many students  meet their post-secondary goals. She is the Lead Educational Consultant, and provides career testing, and admission counselling to students grade 9-12 and post-secondary. When she isn’t managing the company, or working with students, she loves to read and spend time with her two grandchildren. 

John

Operations Manager

John is the Operations Manager for EdMasters. He has 30 plus years as a business owner and entrepreneur. He has education in Business Administration, HR Management and mentorship of supervisors and managers. John has a proven track record of running very successful businesses, in a variety of different scopes. He has recently completed studies and apprenticeship in Project Management.

Ashley

Special Projects

Ashley works part time with EDMasters behind the scenes doing special projects. In her full time job as an employment counsellor. Ashley has a degree from St. Mary’s University in Criminology and Psychology and she  has a background in Nonprofit Management. When Ashley isn’t working she spends time with her two growing kids and her fur babies.

Office Manager

Danielle has over 10 years experience in Office Management, and over 15 years of bookkeeping experience in a variety of industries. She will be running the office full time.

Her children are grown now, so in her down time she likes to spend time with her 3 chihuahuas, reading, painting, or playing Diablo 3 with her husband on the computer.

Tanushree is an educator and industry enthusiast from Calgary, AB, with over a decade of experience in Business Management, hospitality, tourism, and instructional design. She has a PhD in Business Administration.  She is passionate about creating engaging learning experiences and mentoring students as they explore the exciting world of learning. When Tanushree is not teaching, you'll find her curled up with a good book or getting crafty with various projects. She loves expressing my creativity and inspiring others to embrace learning and pursue their passions!

Jeni Thakar graduated from the University of Calgary in 2024 with a B.Sc. in Cellular, Molecular, and Microbial Biology. With over three years of experience tutoring, she is passionate about making complex scientific concepts more accessible and engaging; adapting to each student's unique learning styles and preferences. Jeni’s first teaching experience was as a Science 10 teaching assistant at Foundations for the Future Charter Academy, later going on in 2020 to privately tutor students in grades 7-12. Specializing in Biology (up to 30-AP) and Chemistry (up to 30 level), she aims to help students build confidence and develop a deeper understanding of the sciences. Jeni strives to create a supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and achieve their academic goals

Farabi

Tutor

Farabi is a recent BSc (Honours) Neuroscience graduate from the University of Calgary. He currently works as a research associate at a neuroimaging lab at Foothills Medical Centre, where he also completed and defended his undergraduate thesis. Alongside his research, he is pursuing additional coursework with aspirations of building a career in data science and artificial intelligence.

With over four years of tutoring experience, Farabi has worked with students through EdMasters, TutorBright, LeRoux Studios, and Kumon. He specializes in tutoring junior high and high school students in Mathematics (up to Math 31-AP) and Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics up to the 30-1 AP level). He also has experience supporting younger students in Language Arts and Social Studies. Farabi is passionate about tailoring his teaching to meet the unique learning styles of each student. He believes that effective tutoring is rooted not only in subject mastery but also in mentorship that inspires confidence and a growth mindset.

Outside of academics, Farabi enjoys reading, working out, cooking new recipes, playing soccer, hiking, coding, and spending time with friends—or winding down with a good Netflix show.

Meagan is a final-year Environmental Chemistry student at the University of Calgary, with a strong passion for science. Alongside her studies, she tutors students in STEM subjects, helping them develop problem-solving skills and a thorough understanding of scientific concepts. When Meagan is not busy with her studies or tutoring she enjoys spending her time in the mountains. Meagan has developed patience, discipline, and a strong work ethic, qualities that complement her academic pursuits. She is dedicated to applying her chemistry knowledge to address environmental challenges and to inspiring her students to share her passion for learning and discovery.

Currently pursuing a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Calgary, Shanu brings both deep academic expertise and an enthusiasm for learning to every tutoring session. With several years of experience mentoring students in chemistry and related sciences such as physics, mathematics, biology and social sciences, Shanu is passionate about making complex concepts clear, relatable, and even enjoyable.

Beyond the lab and classroom, Shanu has a love for performing arts. When not immersed in research or teaching, he can be found acting, singing, dancing, writing, making short films or swimming. My name is Anna, and I am working as an ESL tutor. I hold a Master's Degree in Foreign Languages and Translation.

I started my teaching career when I was still a student. And I was working as a Lecturer at the University, Faculty of Medicine teaching English, German and Latin. At the same time, I did a freelancer job as a tutor and translator. For the past 10 years I have been working online. 

My teaching philosophy is centered around the idea that every student can succeed with the right support and guidance. I believe in creating a collaborative learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring their ideas. As a teacher, I encourage critical thinking and problem-solving, and I aim to provide a variety of learning opportunities to cater to different learning styles. 

I never feel more energized than after a class that has gone well. I am a proponent of active learning and use a variety of methods to encourage discussion. I love to make my lessons interesting and be enthusiastic about what I am doing. I don’t want my students to have a feeling that the study is a burden for them, it should be something they want and looking forward to. I like to help them to find the most exciting way to learn things because studying is a very responsible and interesting way to learn everything. 

I have experience working with students in various capacities, including after-school tutoring, summer camps, and teaching in online companies and schools, based in China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, France, Italy and many others.

As a tutor, Manvi is dedicated to creating a space where her students feel comfortable and supported.

Zaria Ibnat is a BSc Psychology student at the University of Alberta with a natural passion for teaching and mentoring. She has hands-on experience tutoring middle school students in math and science, and her patience and adaptability make her effective with learners of all ages. Judy Lyoness has been tutoring since she was in Grade 12. After getting her Bachelor of

Arts at Brock University in Ontario, Judy migrated to British Columbia where she raised three

children and began her teaching career. She went on to get a Master’s degree in education at the University of Calgary. Judy taught English, French, and Social Studies for over twenty years to elementary and high school students. In 2009, she left teaching to pursue a dream to offer tutoring services to anyone needing help with learning. She spent 14 years at Thompson Rivers University assisting post-secondary student receive upgrading and tutoring help in English, Math, and many other subjects. Judy has trained in the Orton-Gillingham method for helping students learn to read better and in the Vantage Vision program for helping those with uncoordinated vision. Danielle Rivard is an Applied Mathematics and Engineering graduate from Queen’s University with a specialization in Systems and Robotics. Passionate about teaching, she enjoys tutoring science and math topics for students from grade school through first-year university. She is also passionate about introducing younger students to computer science, inspiring and guiding those interested in pursuing it further. She has over 16 years of experience working in early childhood education and has a passion for working with early learners and helping them reach their full potential. Erin started tutoring while in university and has continued to do it on a causal basis since then. Her approach is rooted in patience and structure, ensuring that every child feels safe, supported and empowered. I am a BSc Honours in Neuroscience student at the University of Calgary with a strong academic background and hands-on research experience. Gopika Raj, affectionately called Ms. Pika, by many of her students, brings over eight years of
diverse language teaching and tutoring experience across Canada, France, and India. Based in
Calgary, she currently works as a Special Education Assistant with the Calgary Board of
Education and Calgary French & International School. She is also an Alberta-certified Level 2
Early Childhood Educator.
Holding a Master’s in English, DELF B2 in French, and pursuing a Bachelor of Education at the
University of Calgary, Gopika specializes in English Language Arts, French, ESL/FSL, and
inclusive education. Her teaching journey has included supporting language learners in
Toulouse, teaching French in Kerala, South-India and working in Newfoundland as a Reading
Tutor with the Learning Disability Association of NL.
As an educator with ADD and high-functioning autism, Gopika is deeply committed to inclusive

Hello! My name is Janaya and I’m an elementary teacher and tutor based in the Springbank area. I graduated from the University of Alberta in 2018 with my Bachelor of  Elementary Education degree and have been teaching students from kindergarten through grade six ever since.

Over the years, I’ve loved watching my students grow in confidence and curiosity. There’s nothing quite like those “light bulb” moments when a concept finally clicks — they’re what make teaching so special to me! I love what I do and I am so grateful for each student my path crosses with. 

Tutoring is a new and exciting chapter in my teaching journey, and I’m absolutely loving it so far. Working one-on-one allows me to focus on each student’s unique strengths and needs, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see their progress up close. When she’s not teaching swimming lessons, you can usually find her reading a new fantasy series or starting a new crochet project. Although she’s relatively new to tutoring, she has over six years of experience in teaching people of all ages how to swim. She is passionate about teaching and tutoring, particularly in social studies and STEM subjects. Megan is incredibly patient and kind, but also firm, with a strong work ethic. Cooper Lockyer graduated from SAIT in 2025, with a Diploma in Architectural technologies. Sara is an experienced French Immersion teacher and language tutor with a passion for helping students become confident and curious learners. Over the past nine years, she has taught French, FSL, ESL, and Spanish to students from kindergarten to high school, both in Canada and abroad in France and Spain. In addition to classroom teaching, she has provided personalized tutoring and small group support for learners at all levels.

Sara holds a Bachelor's degree in French Language and Literature, along with Master's degrees in Education, Educational Psychology, and Intercultural Communication and Translation, specializing in Arabic, Spanish, and French. She incorporates the Neurolinguistic Approach (ANL) into her lessons to make language learning natural, interactive, and meaningful. When she’s not teaching, Sara enjoys exploring new languages and cultures, reading outdoors, and staying active.

Maren is a biomedical science student at the University of Calgary, with various research experience from muscle mechanics, stem cells, and synthetic biology. Maren’s approach to tutoring comes from a pre-existing passion for teaching, learning and growing. Sessions should be engaging and embedded with both content and activities. Teaching is a science and no one method prevails, that’s why she values input from her students and curates lessons based on their individual needs.
